The best way to get the longest use out of your water distillation unit is through routine cleaning. If you stay on top of it and periodically clean the water distiller, you can avoid having any mould build up and get the most efficient use out of your filter. It is really quite simple to clean the water distillation system, but it all depends on the kind of system you have.

For certain water distillation units you may have to clean it more frequently than others; it all depends on the type of unit you purchase. The most common cleanser is descaler, which is an acid called Sulfamic Acid. This is the most effective method and therefore also makes the most sense.

Other people prefer to use a less acidic cleanser to clean their water distiller. A less acidic and milder acid that you can use is vinegar, which will get the job done as well. Either way, it is recommended that you descale your water distillation unit every 3 to 4 months. Remember; you may have to clean it sooner or later than the typical 3 to 4 month period depending on your system. To get the best of your system you will want to empty the boiling chamber every week as well.

The first step to cleaning your water distiller is to obviously turn off the main power switch and then remove the lid from the boiling chamber. The next step is to add 2 to 3 tablespoons of the descaler, Sulfamic Acid or vinegar, to the boiling chamber. You will agitate the solution for about 5 to 10 seconds.

After that, let the system set over night with the descaler to get the full effect and clean to the fullest. The next day drain the descaler from the boiling chamber of your water distiller and rinse with 4 liters of water. You may need to pour even more water into the boiling chamber; you are just trying to remove the entire descaler residue that remains in the boiling chamber.

If you are still having trouble removing all of the descaler, try to wipe the residue from the sides with a soft cloth. After all of the residue from the descaler is removed from your water distillation system, turn on the main power and water to make sure the water is coming into the boiling chamber. If you have action, place the lid on the boiling chamber and you are set to go.

It is vital that you clean your water distiller from time to time to ensure you get the full effect of clean water and allow your water distillation system to last awhile. By following the steps listed above, you should have no problem cleaning your water distiller and enjoying a nice refreshing glass of clean water.

For drinking purposes, pure water distillers are not the best choice. Research has shown that people who drink from a pure water distiller on a regular basis have digestive problems and nutritional deficiencies.

You see, pure water distillers strip the mineral content to a point that is unnatural. Nowhere in the world are there naturally occurring de-mineralized waters. Even if you are not a naturalist, you have to see that throughout the history of man, we drank what was available.

It seems that when we drink from a pure water distiller, the water’s molecules actually absorb the minerals from the food we eat and from our intestinal tract, in order to restore the balance. Those minerals that we needed for our health are then discarded as waste.

Distilled waters disrupt the natural pH level in the stomach, causing excessive acidity, which can lead to heartburn and acid reflux. They will not replenish electrolytes lost during exercise.

In fact, if a person were competing in a marathon or working outside on a hot day and drank only from pure water distillers, he or she would suffer from “over-hydration”. The body cannot function properly without electrolytes, primarily the minerals sodium and potassium.

That’s why the healthiest and most vibrant societies emerged in areas where there were mineral springs. The people could run faster and work harder for longer periods of time, without suffering from fatigue of exhaustion.

They didn’t know that they were balancing their electrolytes. They just knew that they had more energy.

Cities and health spas were designed “around” mineral springs, wells and baths. All over the world, you will see towns named “Bath”.

In recent history, people would go to these baths to “take the waters”. They were healing, soothing, relieving and generally healthy overall. You will not see people flocking around a pure water distiller to improve their health.

But, pure water distillers are still the most common purification choice for bottled waters. They may add some minerals back in, because otherwise the taste is very flat and stale.

For home purification, there are much better choices for several reasons. First, a pure water distiller does not remove contaminants that have a lower boiling point than the liquid. Many of the cancer causing chemicals that our society is plagued with, simply turn into vapor and float through to the final chamber, along with the steam.

Secondly, the dangerous contaminants, such as lead, that are removed by pure water distillers can be removed through ion exchange. This step also improves the mineral content and the taste by exchanging copper and lead ions for potassium and sodium.

I have seen companies that promote an ultra pure water distiller by saying that cell lines live longer in this environment. That may be so, but human beings won’t live longer in a de-mineralized state. In fact, without minerals or electrolytes, they would eventually die.

The best choice for home purification is a multi-stage system that removes a wide range of contaminants, including chlorine and other chemicals, while balancing the mineral content and the pH level. You can get one for your shower, too and the health of your skin and hair will improve as a result. So, stop looking for pure water distillers and discover something better.

You may have already bought distilled water from time to time at the grocery store to use in your iron or steam cleaning devices. The difference between distilled water and your standard tap water is the distilled water has all of the minerals removed from it.

Not the Best for Drinking

As far as drinking water goes, studies have shown that distilled water is not the best for you. Not only does it not have any minerals in it but research has shown that it may in fact work to extract minerals from the foods that you eat.

No Mineral Deposits

However; water distillation equipment does have many industrial and household uses. For instance, if you put water in your cars radiator and it is a brass radiator, using distilled water will help in preventing deposits from building up in your cars radiator.

Singing in the Rain

Also many people claim that they get better results from distilled water when they wash and rinse their hair with it. The soap gets foamier and the rinse tends to be more complete, resulting in cleaner feeling hair when the entire process is complete.

No Mineral Spots

The same goes for rinsing your car. By rinsing with distilled water, you are virtually assured that there will be no white mineral spots on the car when the job is done. The same goes for any other type of commercial cleaning job.

Industrial uses for Water Distillation Equipment

Industries of all types rely heavily water distillation equipment. One typical example would be in metal plating, when absolute purity of the plating solution is must. Also, there are countless other types of commercial and industrial processes where water is boiled off and untreated water would leave problematic deposits.

Let’s face it. When it comes to water purification, no system can be 100% reliable and certain. Take pure water distillers, for instance. For many years distillation has been a popular choice when it comes to providing clean, safe water for household use. But now that the focus has turned to drinking water that is HEALTHY, as well as clean, distillation has become controversial. But just why would choosing a pure water distiller for your home be a cause for debate? The truth behind the controversy may help to answer that question.

Distillation is a purification process that removes naturally-occurring minerals from water. This de-mineralizing process was highly critical to the success of the photography and printing industries before the development of digital technology.

Since the distillation process was also effective at removing bacteria, pure water distillers for in-home water purification were developed and marketed to the public. Keep in mind that this was at a time when the average consumer was still pretty much in the dark about the growing levels of dangerous chemical toxins in our water supplies.

Now that we know water-borne bacteria aren’t the only threat to our well-being, we are faced with the fact that distillation falls short when it comes to removing organic chemical toxins from our water.

People using pure water distillers in their home must add on an expensive carbon filter to their system if they want to be sure they’re getting rid of this unwanted contamination.

If you have a pure water distiller with a carbon filter you can feel confident that your water is safe and clean. But is it healthy? Herein, lies the controversy with pure water distillers.

Before our chemically-driven society tainted our water supplies, we were easily able to support our good health by drinking water. Nature used water as a convenient delivery system for providing essential minerals to support healthy teeth and bones.

Using a pure water distiller means that you and family are no longer receiving the calcium, postassium and magnesium that nature intends you to have. This has potentially dangerous consequences for your health.

De-mineralized water created by pure water distillers becomes an acid with a pH below 7. In order to neutralize this acid our bodies will pull minerals from our teeth and bones.

Furthermore, studies have shown that acidic body fluids cause an increase in the production of free radicals, exposing us to an increased risk of cancer. Cancer cells require an acid environment in order to grow. If you want to see this theory in action, just look at the most disease-free areas of the world. There you will find water with the highest mineral content.

If you were previously considering installing a pure water distiller in your home and now you’re having second thoughts, I would suggest looking into in home water treatment systems that are based upon multi-stage filtration. I have found these systems to be the best at providing clean, safe AND healthy water.

Multi-stage filtration systems effectively remove sediments, dangerous levels of chlorine, organic and inorganic chemical toxins while leaving the important mineral content untouched. And here’s something you may not have know: in addition to providing for our health, these minerals are what give water its pleasant taste. If you’re a water connoisseur like me, a pure water distiller isn’t going to give you that drinking water satisfaction you may be looking for.

There are other benefits to having a multi-stage filtration system that pure water distillers can’t provide. These healthful systems are available in a variety of affordable, convenient and easy to install appliances. Over and under the counter water dispensers, shower filters and whole house systems are some of the products available to meet the water purification needs of your household.

Finding multi-stage filtration is as easy as turning on your computer and doing some simple research. I can tell you that it didn’t take me long to find just what I was looking for.

So now that you know the truth behind the controversy, you might want to reconsider using pure water distillers. You don’t have to take chances with the health of you and your family when there are better water purification alternatives available.

The first thing that we have to know about home pure water distillers is the price. Always make comparison for the price among the pure water distillers that are available in the market. A standard countertop pure water distiller can be anywhere in between US$30 to US$800. That does not include the price of installation, maintenance or any other fees the company will charge you for. Sometimes, you might not get what you paid for especially when the product is of poor quality and can easily be damaged. A pure water distiller that is used at home should have the best value for its price.

Another gripe about most pure water distillers is the quality of water that it filters out. Some of the distillers out there produce water that still contains harmful compounds. This can cause long-term health problems to our body. Most of them do too good a job, by distilling important nutrients that may be beneficial to our body.

The problem faced by the consumers about the quality of the water produced is largely due to the method of filtration the pure water distillers use. Most of them only use a singular technology in filtration instead of combining several methods in one filter. Also, the semi-permeable material used in these distillers may not be the best and may cause difficulties later. To produce absolutely pure water, multiple filtrations have to be done.

Pure water distillers should also be a convenience to users instead of a burden. These distillers need constant checking and maintenance. Most of the distillers available require you to handle its repairs yourself. And that can be quite a pain, especially if the customer service is not up to scratch. The type of pure water distiller service you should expect is the kind that auto-delivers replacement cartridges to your doorstep and gives a speedy response to your calls. Always confirm this service before you buy the distiller for your home use.

Another thing that you must have in mind is to replace the old filter in your pure water distiller as often as possible (maybe twice in a year) to prevent contamination. Then you will be able to enjoy pure water and lead a healthy life.

Now, you know what kind of situation you are buying yourself into when purchasing water distillers. You should hand-pick the best of pure water distillers obtainable. One that has great value for money, extra convenience and uses multiple distillation techniques can produce real pure water that you need daily.

Pure water distillers, contrary to what most people think, are not the right choice for water purification. Unfortunately this is a fact that very few people are aware of. Many people do not know how these water distillers work and how effective they actually are. What exactly is the problem with them?

Pure water distillers are not the ideal choice for water purification because of two important reasons.

1. They are not capable of removing any contaminant that has a lower boiling point than water. During the purification process, they usually destroy the inorganic contaminants present in water, but leave the organic contaminants untouched. As a result, the finished product still has a measurable pollution level.

2. Pure water distillers remove the essential minerals present in water. These essential minerals are very important for your body. By drinking distilled water that has been stripped of its mineral content, you can develop several health problems. They disrupt the pH level in your stomach, cause problems like acidity, heartburn, and acid reflux. Drinking distilled water regularly could result in several long term health problems.

Water in its natural state contains plenty of essential minerals which are very important for your continuing good health. By using a pure water distiller, you are drinking demineralized water which really should only be used in chemical labs and photo labs.

If you have children, things could be far more serious. Drinking demineralized water can retard children’s growth and can cause a lot of childhood problems.

Now, ask yourself a question. Why would you spend money on a pure water distiller and inherit all these problems? Fortunately there is a perfectly good alternative available, which eliminates all these problems. I am talking about active carbon block purifiers.

Active carbon block purifiers work on the principle of ion exchange and micron filtration. They have multiple carbon blocks which are very good at removing all sorts of contaminants from water.

Most importantly, they retain the essential minerals present in water while doing so. Therefore the water you drink is pure and healthy. And guess what? They cost less than most other water treatment systems available in the market.

It cannot get any simpler folks. On one hand, you have pure water distillers which are both ineffective at removing contaminants and give you demineralized water. On the other hand, you have active carbon block purifiers which give you pure and healthy water. Sounds like a very simple choice, doesn’t it?

You have probably heard several arguments by now about getting pure water distillers: you may have heard of dangerous levels of lead in water supplies, and the increase of dangerous drugs and chemicals that reside within public water systems.

However, there are more reasons why public water may in fact be a hazard to you and your family, reasons that you have not yet considered. It may not strike you as the most pronounced threat, or the scariest danger to public water, but it amounts to a real undetected menace that we are only beginning to understand: Chlorine.

Chlorine has been used for years in water disinfectant. In fact, its use has been documented since the late 19th century, and it has been common practice ever since. Chlorine is neither the most efficient water cleaning product or the safest… it is actually used in such high amounts due to its cheapness and easy access. In addition, recent data shows it may be much more dangerous in high concentrations that we have understood it to be before. Even more reason that pure water distillers have become popular.

Though the use of chlorine has controlled risks of disease for a century, recent studies show that prolonged access to chlorine may have a correlative effect on certain types of cancer. As well, data shows there may be a link with heart problems as well. Boiling this water has no effect on lessening chlorine levels, and there is no way to rely on water treatment facilities to lessen chlorine levels, as they use it as the integral water-cleaning compound.

Consider chlorine in its pure form. A known poison, it was used as a weapon of war throughout the 20th century, employed as a gas first in World War One, and most recently employed against coalition forces in Iraq. If chlorine as a toxic gas can make entire villages sick for weeks, consider what a chlorine build-up in your body can do to you. It is, in effect, bleach… yet though drinking bleach is crazy; we allow chlorine to build up in our bodies over a period.

However, you also do not want to rob yourself of the healing properties of water in your act of chlorine prevention. Did you know that many units, such as those that use reverse osmosis technology and water distillation, actually decrease levels of positive minerals in your water?

Just as chlorine is used to cleanse away bad diseases but has been revealed to be bad itself, you do not want a water filtration unit that also lessens the healthy quality of your water. Look into a multi chamber filtration model that keeps positive elements of the water in while ridding the negative ones. You may need a product that works more efficiently than a pure water distiller to maintain the safe and healthy levels of your water.

One of the ways to stop highly dangerous levels is through the installation of pure water distillers. Nevertheless, while it is designed to filter out chlorine, it removes healthful chemicals as well. You may need to seek better alternatives than pure water distillers, such as a multi channel filtration unit. However, regardless of the unit, they are no longer just a matter of comfort. Now they are a matter of safety.
